Comparisons

compare Comparisons allow you to compare the contents of your currently open Planogram with another planogram, viewing added, removed, and changed Positions.

The most common use case of Comparisons is to compare against a previous version of your work, but you can also use them to compare against similar planograms in different stores or regions.

To access Comparisons, navigate to View → Compare, and select a planogram to compare against with article Select Comparison POG. Use the image, grid_on, and description buttons to show or hide the planogram view, tables, and report options respectively.

When you load a planogram into the Comparison panel, the Comparison planogram represents the previous version. Use the swap_horiz button to switch the Comparison planogram and open planogram.

Example Comparison view, showing added, removed, and changed items.

The Added table lists items that exist in the current planogram but not in the comparison planogram. The "Facings Added" column shows the number of facings in the added position.

The Removed table lists items that exist in the comparison planogram but not in the current planogram. The "Facings Removed" column shows the number of facings in the removed position.

The Changed table lists items that exist in both planograms at the same location but have different properties, such as facings, orientation, or rotation angle. The "Change(s)" column describes what changed for each item.

Note that item positions in a comparison view are determined by the Location ID.

Comparison Reports

Comparisons can be used to generate a custom report, informed by a Report Property Set. The Choose RPS dropdown will allow you to select a Report Property Set from your site. If one is selected, use the visibility button to select specific Properties, Aggregates, and Breakdowns to include.

Report Property Set options in the Comparison panel.

RPS Properties

When you select a Report Property Set, the Properties defined in that RPS will appear as additional columns in the Added and Removed tables. These properties are evaluated for each position, allowing you to see values like Cost, Margin, or custom Calculations alongside the product information.

Aggregate Comparisons

If your selected RPS includes Aggregates, you can enable the aggregate comparison table by clicking the calculate button. This displays a table comparing aggregate values between the comparison planogram and current planogram.

Example Comparison Aggregates table.

The aggregate comparison table shows four columns: the aggregate name, the comparison value, the current value, and the difference. Differences are color-coded: green for positive changes and red for negative changes. This makes it easy to see at a glance how metrics have changed at a glance.

Breakdown Comparisons

If your selected RPS includes Breakdowns, you can enable the breakdown comparison view by clicking the bar_chart button. Breakdowns segment your products by a category (such as Brand, Category, or Supplier) and show how the distribution has changed between planograms.

Example Comparison breakdown view, showing a change in Category composition.

Each breakdown displays two doughnut charts side by side—one for the benchmark planogram and one for the current planogram—along with a comparison table. The table shows each segment with its percentage in the benchmark, its percentage in the current planogram, and the difference. Like aggregates, differences are color-coded green for increases and red for decreases.

Exporting Comparison Reports

You can export comparison reports in two formats using the download buttons:

  • XLSX: Exports the comparison data to an Excel spreadsheet, including the Added, Removed, and Changed tables with any selected RPS properties and aggregates. Breakdowns are not included in Comparison XLSX reports.
  • PDF: Generates a formatted PDF document containing:
    • Images of both planograms including the Comparison color view
    • Added, Removed, and Changed tables with product images and RPS properties
    • Aggregate comparison table (if selected)
    • Breakdown comparison pages with doughnut charts and percentage tables (selected)

Comparison Color View

Selecting the palette icon will enable the Comparison Color view, which will color the items in both your planogram and the Comparison preview. Added items will be colored green in the main planogram view, removed items will be colored red in the Comparison preview, and changed items will be colored blue in the main planogram view.
